Hello there, friends of Unity Joy of Life!
The other night I just could not get to sleep. I tossed, I turned, I thought about things, and then I started to think the thought, "Man, I'm going to have an awful day tomorrow because I haven't gotten enough sleep." I may have gotten maybe three hours of sleep. And one of my morning practices is writing in a gratitude journal. And I thought, well, I'm just going to give thanks for the three hours sleep that I did get.
And you know what? I had a magical day.
You see, gratitude has a way of reframing how we see the world. And personally, I think that most people, they suffer from life dysphoria. You know, we hear about body dysphoria, where maybe a skinny person sees themselves as really fat. But most people think the world is terrible, that their life is awful, mainly because that's the narrative of the outer world. That's the dark force at work, if you will. We talked about that last week.
Not too long ago, I saw this clip from Jim Carrey. It was his awakening moment. And here it is. (Watch the video below)
My friends, I challenge anyone going through their darkest moments to write about what they're grateful for. In fact, maybe sometime today or sometime this week, take a gratitude inventory of your whole life from the day that you were born -- all the good things that have happened throughout your life. And what you will see is that you have always been taken care of.
And what you will see is that the universe is always working in your favor if you let it -- if you don't go down the road of complaining, the road of seeing things in a negative way. My friends, if you do this, this one practice, if you just do this one practice, you will start to see that you are a very rich person.
So until next week, I'm keeping the faith for you. God bless you.
