Hello there, friends of Unity Joy of Life!
I can't tell you how many sermons I've done in the past on compare and despair, right? When you compare yourself to others, there is this despair that happens within you. We've all had that experience.
Maybe you've compared yourself to someone that just got a raise, or maybe someone who has a most loving and fun spouse, or maybe someone that's happier, or someone that just got great fortune, or just bought a house. Whatever it might be, if you compare yourself to that particular person and circumstance, it steals your joy. I used to be one of those people.
I would get frustrated if I wasn't celebrating what I saw other people doing that I wanted. Again, it stole my joy. But let me tell you, I've got this trick to creating more fortune in your life.
Success comes to those who celebrate the success of other people. I love Zig Ziglar. Maybe some of you remember him, and he said, "Life is an echo". What you send out comes back. And many times we're sending out thoughts of despair, but that comes back.
Friends, you cannot keep despising the destination you want to reach and expect to reach there. It's impossible.
Last week, a dear friend of mine shared a great Buddhist word. It's not only a word, it's a principle, it's a practice, and it's "Mudita".
Mudita. And this is what it means: "a genuine and deep joy felt in your heart for someone else's good fortune". I just love that. Meaning, celebrate the success of others. When you take on that mindset, you're telling the universe, "I believe that there is enough. I believe that there is enough love, that there is enough happiness, that there is enough joy, that there is enough financial wealth in this world. There is abundance in this world". That's what you're saying.
And when you celebrate with deep joy the fortune of others, what happens is that you open the doors for your own fortune to come through. Your time is coming, my friends. It is. And when it does, you will want the world to celebrate with you too.
So this week, try this. Next time someone shares good news, notice your first reaction, whatever that might be, and then put yourself in their shoes and then consciously choose to celebrate.
What will happen is that your brain's happiness network will literally rewire itself and you will be the magnetic attractor, if you will, to your wealth and to your great joyous well-being.
So until next time, I'm keeping the faith for you.
