Hello there, friends of Unity Joy of Life!
Some years back, I was at a minister's conference. We were on a cruise boat on our way to Alaska, and every morning before we would start our meetings, we would have about a half hour of joy songs. And I would always sit in the back with other colleagues, just kind of judging some of the other ministers up front that were like just getting into the joy songs and having the time of their life. I'm thinking, man, they are looking so foolish. Look at them. That is just not for me. Blah, blah, blah.
And then I shifted into our power place. Everyone's got this, where you just shift into being the observer. And I finally shifted into being the observer. And I thought, I'm not having a good time. And I see my dear friends Richard and Maureen Levy, and they are having the best time of their life.
And so I got up, I joined them, and my whole state of being changed. I just got into dancing and having the time of my life.
My friends, there is no cause beyond yourself.
No one but yourself affects you.
Take that in. That is the truth right now.
Take that in, because that offers you such freedom.
There is no one but yourself that affects you. And this freedom is something that most people will not choose. Most people will choose, they will choose to be in the narrative of blaming others, or blaming the outside world, or judging people, places, things, and circumstances for their own state of being.
This is a basic Unity Truth, and it offers you great freedom if you really know this, that no one but yourself affects you.
So listen very carefully. If you are blaming and you are judging the outside world that keeps you hooked into what I would call disempowerment. That's what that does. It disempowers you to be the victim of the narrative out there. And when you really get that no one but yourself affects you. When you get that, you're done playing the game. You're done playing and being disempowered.
In fact, you get to choose how you want to be. You choose your state of being.
So what I thought we would do today is do a little meditation. And part of it has to do with dancing. And if you choose to dance, I won't be watching. No one will be watching you. No one will be judging you. But what I do know for sure is that if you get up, if you dance, or even if you sit and you're dancing, getting into the groove, it will change your whole state of being.
So, let's take a moment and let's just tune in, tap in to that great joy. And you might want to just remember a time when you felt great joy. And as you do so, listen to this music (Watch Video!). Let it lift you.
Wasn't that fun to do a little dancing? You know, little did I know that what dancing does is that, and it's been proven to do so, it reduces stress. It releases different neurochemical opioids, if you will, and then it stimulates the endorphins and it naturally changes your state of being.
So I hope that today your state of being has changed for the better, that you go out into the world and you realize that only you can change your state of being. Nothing in the outside world can affect you except for you.
Until next time, I'm keeping the faith for you. God bless you.
